About Us
Welcome to the official website of The Gujarati Society of British Columbia.
Immigrants to Canada, our forefathers built the framework of our society which was incorporated in 1969 as a charitable society. GSBC has since grown to be one of the most active South Asian community organizations in Canada. Comprised of thousands of Gujarati-speaking members and supporters, GSBC is known to foster community spirit by connecting all age groups through our events and activities. By supporting youth and seniors, an unbreakable bond is built which establishes family and community values in our youth and cultivates a sense of belonging for all. We believe that family values and academic excellence are the foundation of strong future community leaders. We are 100% volunteer based and donation driven. Our Society is inclusive of all castes, creeds, religions, languages, and countries of origin.
Purpose
The objects of the Society are:
- to advance and teach the religious tenets, doctrines, observances and culture associated with the Hindu faith of Gujarati adherents;
- to relieve loneliness and isolation of the aged and to improve their mobility and fitness by organizing and facilitating activities for senior citizens; and
- to advance education by providing scholarships to students entering a post-secondary institution.
To achieve these goals, GSBC organizes major events including a Diwali Celebration, Navratri Festival and Bhajans. We endeavor to keep our members informed regarding upcoming events and activities through this website, as well as our social media outlets.
